Easy Way to Teach Early Literacy Skills

Letter & Animal Magnet Match!

The best way to teach early literacy (or any new) skills is to start with exposure!

A super easy way to introduce your child to letter and word recognition is with this playful invitation to learn. All you have to do is grab some paper, trace your magnets, write the name of the animals (or other types of magnets you have on hand) inside their corresponding spaces (this exposes your child to the concept of “word”), and encourage your child to match!

*PRO TIP: when first teaching letters, start with the letters in your child’s name!

We love Melissa & Doug Wooden Letter Magnets and Melissa & Doug Animal Magnets featured above. When you put them on your refrigerator, they can offer countless opportunities for pre-literacy and language development throughout the day.
