Over Spring Break, I took my kids to the American Museum of Natural History in New York City—their first time! That morning, as we were getting ready, I had a fun idea: what if I printed a little scavenger hunt to keep them engaged while we explored the museum? I quickly searched online for a museum activity like this to print, but surprisingly, I couldn’t find anything!

So on our subway ride, I made my own and the kids loved it. They were completely engaged, interested and excited the entire time with eyes peeled looking for items on their list. As a bonus, I told them that if they found everything on their bingo cards, they’d get a little surprise at the end—and yes, they totally earned it.

We got tons of compliments from other families at the museum saying what a great idea it was. When I got home, I thought: why not make a version that other families can use too?

So here it is—a FREE printable Museum of Natural History Scavenger Hunt Bingo activity for you to print and bring with you on your next visit to the museum. Whether you're local or visiting NYC for the first time, this little activity adds a layer of fun and discovery that kids (and adults!) will love. I designed it so it can be used any any museum - so you can use this free printable activity sheet anywhere!

BONUS: Because my kids are 6 and 9 years old, I added an extra challenge for them. This extended their educational experiences while we were at the museum… When they found an item, I had them write on the back of the paper what they found! This invited them to look deeper into what they were looking at and learn a little something extra! It was also great for improving my 6-year-olds writing skills! :)

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Happy exploring!
